This working farm In the heart of urban Toronto near the Don River is open year round and is free to all. There are animals and gardens, a shop and kitchen and classes and from May to October, a market.
But it has been under threat of closure in a sad and convoluted tale of a new mayor seeking to save money no matter what is destroyed in the process.

This farm can generate money for tourist why close it? It saddened to hear like hope this place will stay.

@Ebie: the location is not the issue, it is that the city (the mayor) wants to offload the financial contribution.
@Kim: it doesn't generate income for tourists but is invaluable for the local families.
I hear plans have been pitched to work together to save this, let's hope Ford becomes interested in working together.
it looks like the community is of a different opinion from the mayor. i hope the voice of people would reign supreme.
What a waste if the farm will be gone in the name of "development". I hope the community will gather together, join forces and keep the farm where it rightfully is.

Don't get me talking about that foolish mayor and the even more foolish electorate. :))
Money is so hard to come by these days... and not everyone shares the same priorities. Hope the supporters of the farm find a way to save it.
Oh no -- seems like politics is the same everywhere these days. Rats. Looks like a great place to visit. I hope it survives.
