feeding time

The calmer waters on the Burlington Bay side of Lake Ontario are a favourite site for these Canada Geese, Mallard Ducks and the Trumpeter and Mute Swans during the winter. Volunteers put out bowls of corn feed which has these Mallards really excited.

Wow..so many geese, ducks and swans. It's been ages since the last time I saw geese, swans and ducks. Pretty fascinating that they can endure the coldness of the winter.

Thanks for sharing.

Virginia: those swans are certainly huge!

Sylvia: this lot must have missed the earlier feeding bucket

Sistertex: and there were hundreds more further out on the lake

Misalyn: it is an oddity that there are far more here in the winter than in the summer

Wow, there are a lot of Mallards and the swans are cool. What a sight to see them all. They must be happy to get the food.

Oh my gosh ... what a LOT of birds hanging out in your world!
Hugs and blessings,

VioletSky said...

Eileen: they were noisy, too

Koala: they seem to always be searching for food... or resting up for the next course

Storyteller: and yet a small fraction, actually!

Oh my goodness, so many of them! I think I can hear them. On the other hand, it's hard to imagine, I don't think I've ever seen so many!

Wow! That is an amazing shot! Your photos are really making me miss living on the Great Lakes. :)

Jientje: I love ducks, I tend to visit this marina at least a couple times a week just to see them

Helena: this is what makes it worthwhile. I think I prefer a river or small lake when the weather is warm

My pigeons are feeling very left out knowing they don't have a fine house like this to live in.
