St John's Cemetery
A couple of weekends ago, at this church in Ancaster, there was a hands on workshop to learn about historic monuments and best practices for conserving them.
"Participants will learn how to conduct ongoing safety assessments of their cemetery's monuments and grounds. Includes hands on training in safely laying down or straightening old marble and limestone tablets."monuments under wraps for restoration

City Motor
the old style sign may be a classic, but the motel is a blight on the landscape (and a safety hazard)
city council is meeting today to decide on an appropriate fate

tavern
This banquet hall looking restaurant has always intrigued me. The girl in the sign looks more Spanish than Italian, but maybe that is an old Abruzzese style of dress?
It has been here since forever, and looking it up, turns out it opened on June 6 1944,
co-incidentally, D-Day.

high level niches
An underside view of the York St Bridge,
officially known as the Thos B McQueston High Level Bridge
SundayBridges
officially known as the Thos B McQueston High Level BridgeDesigned in 1932 by John Lyle, there are four of these pylons each with the city's coat of arms and a niche which was meant to house a statue.
As often happens, the design was too expensive and had to be scaled back,
and to this day the niches remain empty.

view over the water
Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.
~Confucius
There are some million dollar homes along the shores of Lake Ontario with this view over to the Stelco plant. It is not always pretty, but some days it doesn't matter.

waterfront trail
Beyond this entrance lies Bayfront Park and the Waterfront Trail. Formerly a vacant lot, it has been transformed over the last 18 years into a 40 acre park with trails and beaches. There is fishing and sailing on water, cycling and walking on trails, or playing and picnicking on the grass.

to all buses
These pigeons seem happy to welcome you to this GO Station in downtown Hamilton. The TH&B Ry Co stands for Toronto, Hamilton and Buffalo Railway Company (which merged with Canadian Pacific in the late 1980s). It is the only art deco railway station known in Canada. Today it doubles as a GO train and bus station which also includes other regional buses (Greyhound and Canada Coach) as well as the local HSR buses.signs, signs
