dead-house

The Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery has grave markers dating back to 1806
one of its more unusual features is the 1863 Octagonal Vault, or deadhouse, used to store caskets during the winter.

Oh how interesting. I've never lived in extreme cold, so never thought about the need for such a place.
