turquoise and pink

I am not sure what this pink mural between these upper storey windows found in Seillans is meant to be.
the numbers don't correspond to months or hours and the space between the 13 and 14 is so much larger than all the others, with the 15 being the only number at an arrow.
below is the whole house with a little HDR.

one of my pet peeves is window shutters as decoration - these at least are useful

It's a mystery to me. Let's start a conspiracy theory.

Oh, what fantastic shutters! When I first saw that mural, I figured it was some kind of cool sundial, but you're right that it doesn't work out... now it seems to be something out of a Dan Brown novel :)
Great find!

Don't know what it means either, but that house is super cute!

Given it's placement, it looks like it was not a casual task to paint it. Makes one want to knock on the door and say, "Explain this, please." Good catch, Violet. Thanks for contributing to Monday Mural.

oh, I agree with you on the shutters - especially the ones that don't even fit the window.
this is a curiosity isn't it? and it is rather small for such a tall building.

A mystery for sure! I hope someone knows and posts an answer.

It certainly means something to someone. I love all the little gardening accoutrements in the window.

That mysterious mural was driving me nuts, so I did a GoodSearch for it, and it sure appears to indeed be a vertical, declining sundial. The fact that the numbers go to 15 instead of just 12 still puzzles me, unless it's marking the hours in Zulu time (1300 to 1500 hours, or 1pm to 3pm), indicating that the sun hits this side of the house between the hours of 6am and 3pm. But, that's just a guess, so perhaps some of the mystery still remains! :-)

Those are some thick walls and deep windows! I love the goodies on the window sills, and the cute little - whatever it is - hanging in the one on the right!

PS I used the search terms, "Roman numerals VI to VX sun rays France mural," and the Wikipedia page about Sundials was the most germane result.
