feisty swans

The swans were ready to be released onto the Avon River in Stratford Ontario. After being in close quarters in their winter home, they were feeling a bit... erm, frisky.

see also VioletSky for more of the swans trip to the river.

Oh they are glorious. Each shot shows their striking beauty, especially the first and last. But that lat one, wow. To catch the wings just in that moment, like angel wings, and the necks heads and beaks perfect, parallel felt pipe cleaners. Just gorgeous!

Frisky -- but graceful at the sametime ;>) Beautiful swans -- and I checked the "muscovy duck" comments below and see that Eileen and others beat me to it. One of our grandsons and I spotted this crazy looking duck one time and he and I looked it up on the Internet (he was about 5 at the time). We were both excited to learn its name.

Oh my! You were there at the right time!
I've often wondered about that Parade of Swans - perfect for a theatrical town, I think.

That must almost be a tradition in Stratford when the swans are released. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

In answer to your question. Click on the photo and a long line will appear offering the ability to caption and set the photos on the page and to size them. It will glaze the photo which you click on again and it's done. Use a right click not a left click. You'll have to play with it to get it right. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

I saw the parade of swans. I think the last picture is especially good in this group. That's what you imagine a couple of swans to look like.

Didn't realize that your Stratford is also upon the Avon.

Lovely bit of voyeurism.

I am assuming they only mate in the water.

...and yes, we copy a lot of your towns and rivers names!
