Look, more swans....
Contrary to popular opinion, feeding swans (and ducks) bread is a definite no-no. Bread is very bad for these birds, but a healthy corn mixture for feeding enthusiasts can be bought at several locations in town.
Several businesses had decorated swan topiaries which could be voted on for your favourite. This one was in memory of Angela who (along with her eggs) was brutally murdered last year by someone on a drunken bender. Such a senseless killing horrified the city of Stratford.
This one has been tartaned up for the piping in of the swans

I only found out that bread is not good for them. I had been feeding them stale bread for years :(
The topiaries are a cute idea.
I wonder how the idea of feeding ducks and swans and geese bread started anyway? Why would they want to eat soggy bread?
Oh oh... I learn something here. We've been feeding bread to birds in our back yard for years... but only the little ones come for it.
I remember learning this at a nature preserve.
Love your festive swans.
I love the sign, and the cute topiaries. Now who would murder a swan? That's just WRONG.
These topiaries are too cute as is the blackboard. Love the Scottish plaid dressed one. I am another person who did not know it was a NO-NO to feed them stale bread. It is a good thing to know...better late than never.
I like the sound of a swan parade.
No more feeding bread to ducks for me, I just learned this. thanks for sharing.
I'm not surprised!!! It's not all that good for us anymore either!!! Glad to know that local merchants will supply feed that is, though!!!
These is pretty cool one. I haven't swan here in my area. Thanks for sharing!
Signs-signs
I'll never feed a duck bread again. I will be on the look out for something better.
One of the few things I know (no bread) -- learned in a birding class I took some years ago. Also (before that) learned by experience when my granddaughter (about 3) and I were feeding ducks and ran out of bread. They did not take kindly to that (probably traumatized her for life ;>))
The topiaries are lovely. And it gives me cold shivers to think that anyone, sober or drunk, could want to harm one of these beautiful creatures.
