It is hard to tell, but where the ducks are wandering is a creek that flows under the bridge down to the lake. If you embiggen the picture, you can see that the creek is frozen and snow covered and the lake is not.

There is something magical about the mix of sunshine and snow. Its not just the glint of light off the ice crystals, its how two opposing forces (freezing ice/boiling sun) coexist for a short time. Brings a little hope to us all... Or am I just thinking too deeply :)

Judging by the tracks in the snow there's still a lot people that get out in the winter cold. That includes us crazy photographers.

Funny, but I was out taking photos of ducks under a similar bridge a few days ago! The bridge was blue, though. :)
