A nice memorial of a sad battle.
The "peace dove" is a welcome extra to the photo.

Beautiful memorial, how lovely that the dove decided to stop and rest a while.

Very effecting memorial and the arrival of the dove adds to the message of peace.

Sculptures are my favourite art form and this one is terrific. Hard to imagine it is stone.

It's a curious phrase, isn't it: "enfants"/children.
But I suppose many of the young men who enlisted to fight would actually have been barely out of their childhood - and so Seillans lost some of its 'children' in both senses.
Very moving statue though.

yes, I was confused by thew term 'enfants', too.
maybe they thought of everyone as being children of the ancient city.

Beautiful! The dove just makes the shot!

Maybe in this context 'enfants' is more 'young' than 'children'. Whichever, it is a very emotive and emotional rendition. So very realistic, like those in Italy that you all showed earler. I like statues that are realistic ... whereas I prefer art that is interpretive. Go figure ...
