Monday Mural

The cafe at the Royal Botanical Gardens has changed hands several times and that could be why this mural - or more specifically, trompe l'oeil - has now disappeared.

Every year I tell myself that I will visit the Royal Botanical Gardens but things don't work out that way. Your photo has made determined to make the trip this year.

but, remember, this is now just a sad blank wall. the chocolate exhibit would be fun for you and the grandkids.

That's amazing! It's really tricky to figure out which parts of that are real, and which are mural. Good thing that you got a shot of it before it disappeared!
Thanks so much for participating in WWDD - have a great week!

Those paintings are always so amazing, they look so real as if you can enter through a door. Very nice one.

Fascinating! I am still ont sure I know which was real and which was fake! Glad you caught this before it was gone!

Me so too - glad you caught this before it disappeared. I love 'trompe l'oeil' but I have never seen any in Sydney. I must keep my eyes peeled. I am off to an exhibition of paintings of my local area tomorrow evening. I shall ask the painter.

How sad that it's gone! I rather like it!

Too bad. I like this and think it quite clever. Those "exposed" bricks especially.

That is very clever - and you are right, it is just a sad blank wall now. I'm sorry I never managed to see this while it was up.

Glad you have saved the image of the way it was!

This has just the fun style of a place the I'd love to visit! The peeling 'stucco' and red 'brick' are more fun than stuffy, which I assume the table service inside is too!

I wonder if they had any second thoughts before they painted it over. Thank heavens you preserved this mural in your photos. Such a charming work, now lost. Thanks for participating in Monday Mural again this week. I'm impressed with how many murals there are in your area.

It's not there any more? What a shame. I love trompe l'oeils, and this was such a fun one.

I'm glad that trompe l'oeil is gone. I didn't think it was a very attractive one. I'm sure you agree.

@Nora: it actually did not 'go' with the restaurant. it is far too casual for the facility which often hosts weddings and banquets.

That is definitely whimsical and delirious. Not the most attractive trompe l'oeil I've ever seen. Glad you got a photo to remember it by!
