V is for Varsity

it is hard to tell from this angle, but the letters really are equidistance apart, it was just a challenge to get them all in with a sky background
below is a view of the field from Spadina Avenue looking towards Bloor St (which is the main east-west street in Toronto)
there has been a stadium at this location since 1898, though this incarnation has only been since 2009
it is the home of the University of Toronto
and has a 400 metre 8-lane track, plus an artificial turf and a dome that is erected in winter. The recent renovations has made the venue even more open to the street (which is what made getting these photo so much easier!)

Crisp photos! Interesting how the V does look too far apart from the rest of the word varsity in the first photo. Photos sure can look odd even when the camera is recording exactly what it saw.

Great photos, and this is certainly a wonderful reincarnastion of the original stadium.

Perfect word choices for the letter V. Its interesting how the camera recorded the letter spacing.

You did a great job getting all the letters into the shot. Great post for V day.

I do like the way you take us all over the place to unknown locations and show us where you live.

That is a beautiful stadium! I love seeing the green and blue together :)
You could post this to my new Wednesday meme, if you like - it's called Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors. Check it out if you're interested!

Letters are notoriously difficult to space if they are to look right, especially a V and an A which reflect their angles. Good shot though!

I was going to post one of the Varsity signs today but changed when I saw yours. Great minds .....

The Varsity sign is almost a sculpture in its own right! Great photos!

I have driven by here a million times, but never stopped to really look. Love your shot of the sign. I think it's cool that they don't look equidistant. Eye trickery! :)

Three nice contrasting perspectives. The sign looks very dramatic with the sky, it is an interesting foreshortening effect.

I like the way the R and S flow together.
And you do get a nice view into the stadium now.

Nice shots! I like how the letters are cut out. It looks like old fashioned lettering.

Having always been in educations, I especially like this post. The clue color is so vivid and nice. It is interesting how the V looks to be farther from the A than the A and the other letters are from each other. An optical illusion maybe. Such nice shots. Feel like I am actually there. genie

Great photos of a stadium that has had a few Grey Cup games played on it's field.
