Lift up

skywatch 081

The Burlington Canal lift bridge was up, its bright orange of the lift span like a beacon in the distance. This took a little over ten minutes to let this tanker through.

Is that a train bridge or a car bridge? Does the lift when lifted cause a traffic clog?

This is a car bridge. The traffic jams aren't so bad as it is an alternate route. There is another (six lane) bridge that you can see rising up behind it.

Jams in bridges can be scary, any emergency up there, the only alternative I guess will be to jump down from there or get airlifted.

Oh, no fear, you are stopped from going across the bridge before it goes up.

That's so cool how the whole bridge lifts up! Nice color, too :D

This bridge reminds «Louis» of the High Street Bridge between Oakland and Alameda, CA that Carolyn showed part of recently. When these bridges go up, they certainly create traffic jams on the roads leading to them.

«Louis» thanks you for your contribution to Sunday Bridges.

This is such a cool view of this bridge. I have a shot of it from a different angle (I haven't posted it yet) but I think I like your way, way better!
