It was a rainy drive home
in the city last night,
the streets glistened.

What a lovely picture. How different the feeling would have been had the lights been red. I like this cool look much better. It feels very safe. I'm thinking that red would have created a very omimous mood.

Annie, interesting you should say that - I have spent many minutes debating and decided the shot taken just before this with the red lights was too jarring.

Nice image there. Rain transforms the scene.

Leia: I enjoy looking out over the city more at night than daytime. It always changes and delights.

VioletSky said...

Michael: it would look just ordinary the night before.

Delightful colors, the streets look like they're made of gold!

VioletSky said...

Diane, and hopefully they will for a long time until those new, ugly, energy efficient, blinding lightbulbs are put in. I much prefer the golden glow of these older models.

Very nice photo. I love night photography. This one makes me want to be out of the car and into a warm robe.

VioletSky said...

Stine: thanks, it was a late inspiration for me. I wanted a change from windows.

VioletSky said...

Kathy: this reminds me of a movie shots...

VioletSky said...

cieldequimper: thank you

VioletSky said...

John: this was my practice at night photography. a warm robe was needed for the damp air on the balcony!

It's amazing how a place can be transformed by lights reflecting from dark surfaces.

VioletSky said...

Squirrel: city lights can be pretty cool

VioletSky said...

Dimple: it's a form of urban mood lighting - too much and it's distracting.

Grooving all the way
in the night
with Kind of Blue
and the slow rain
playing in the background
Thanks VioletSky

Chrome3d: it is, as a musical interlude, a rainy night...

That is just awesome. Rain brings out so much reflection in everything. Well done :)

Thom: thanks. we've had so little rain lately, now I want more to practice my night shots!

I get mesmerised with those type of reflections good shot!

VioletSky said...

Diane: so do I. sometimes, the reflection seems to stretch on and on. the long blue bit is from a hotel sign several storeys up.

I really like the way the headlights are reflected. Great picture!

VioletSky said...

Serendipita: thank you, it took awhile to get just the right headlights!

Nice green and blue colors on the streets.

VioletSky said...

Therese: I was quite pleased that there were no red lights; that would have been distracting.
