Oh sweet, what a wonderful photo! I love how the two of them are gliding by one another without any fuss, and imagine that just as they drew close, they gave one another a dignified nod of inter-species friendship. :-) Their reflections in the water provide such a lovely touch.
What kind of duck is that, do you know? Speaking of interspecies friendship, s/he looks like the result of a bit of duck and loon hanky-panky! ("The Duck & Loon" would be a great pub name, don't you think?) :-)
Thanks for answering my question! I have never, to my knowledge, seen a goldeneye duck before. So pretty! And whenever I hear of a Trumpet Swan, I think of the EB White book of my childhood.
So, meet you at the Duck & Loon for an ale later? :-)
I've checked other pictures I've taken of the swans and there is a E47 so it might be that. I'm not sure exactly how the letter/number combination works, but there is someone who has a record of them all. She takes sightings data and can tell you about each swan.

A nice composition.
@Laloofah, I love the way your mind works!
that little guy is a goldeneye (and the swan is a trumpeter)
Love this shot, Violet!

I am up for it!
Interestingly, I only recently read that book!
Violet - Were you able to read the number on the yellow tag on the Trumpeter?

Gorgeous capture!
How wonderful to catch the two of them at that perfectly posed moment. And how perfectly you titled the post.
Just love this photo. I assume there's another swan nearby?
Lovely capture!!! Love the juxtaposition of the large adult swan with the little guy...well placed in the composition! Nice!!!
Wonderful contrast! I love this capture.
