City Motor

the old style sign may be a classic, but the motel is a blight on the landscape (and a safety hazard)
city council is meeting today to decide on an appropriate fate

signs, signs

update: the crackhouse and den of thieves motel will be torn down with a new complex of housing and retail and possibly a new transit station built in its place.

Hmmm. I can see why the prices are low. I bet there will be a few homeless people if this is torn down, though.

It IS an eyesore, sad to say. Though the sign is pretty cute, I'd say.

Neat sign, though.

I like the sign and the mural.

I love those vintage motel signs. So space-age.

I like the sign more than the building.

Quite. I say keep that sign and build something else in the space around it.

If the city council would take this down for sure many pickers or those vintage people would love to buy these sign. ^_^

I like the old sign. Perhaps a new injection site will be opening here soon? ;)

Maybe something much nicer can be built there. It's a shame about the sign, though. Is there a museum for signs?

Hal: haha! good one.

Irene: I don't think there is a museum of signs. I know there is one in Vegas that I would love to see.

Hope you suggest to the city fathers that they find a good home for the sign. I think there's another neon sign museum in LA.
