sunset on the beach strip
Know where to find the sunrise and sunset times and note how the sky looks at those times, at least once. |

J is for jukebox
Put another nickel in
In the nickelodeon
All I want is having you
And music, music, music
C'mon, everybody
Put some nickels in
And keep that old Nickelodeon playing

a covered bridge
The Main Street Bridge in Galt has been covered with a wide variety of knitted fabric made by over 1500 volunteers, most local, but some from as far away as Australia and New Zealand..About 16,000 plastic zip ties hold thousands of knitted and crocheted afghans, scarves, socks, pot holders and hats to the concrete bridge. The installation will be up until Sept 27 when all the pieces will be laundered and donated.

just passing through
An egret seems to be dancing in Bronte Creek. We checked our guide books and decided this was definitely not a white heron. I have never seen an egret in these parts before and he was pretty far away, so I was thrilled to get this clear a shot of him.

I is for irreplaceable insulbrick
Insulbrick was a common asbestos or asphalt siding used between the 1920s and the 1950s. It is unusual to see whole houses still covered in this irreplaceable (as in no longer manufactured) material and now that that the elderly owner of this house has passed on, it is doubtful we will see it for much longer.

lazy days of summer
"There's a time each year
That we always hold dear,
Good old summer time;
With the birds and the trees'es
And sweet scented breezes,
Good old summer time,
When you day's work is over
Then you are in clover,
And life is one beautiful rhyme,
No trouble annoying,
Each one is enjoying,
The good old summer time."
- Lyrics by Ron Shields, In the Good Old Summertime
