graffiti alley

A graffiti artist at work in
Graffiti Alley at Queen and Augusta in Toronto.
He was too busy with his creation to be engaged in any conversation.

Graffiti is becoming more and more considered as art and I have to admit, much of it is! Great capture for the day! Enjoy your week!

he's really concentrating.:p
i wonder if this is legal in your city.

There is a HUGE debate about that going on right now! In this particular alley, it is legal and had been encouraged.

What a great mural - he's very gifted!

Can't help wishing he wore a proper mask, rather than a flimsy scarf.

I wondered about that, too. it doesn't seem to offer much protection.

I like graffiti in designated areas but scribblings and random spraying on buses and trains and ordinary houses can be quite annoying and destructive.

This is a great shot. Did the young man's trousers actually fall off?

:) actually, I think they looked okay - not too baggy. it is probably his shorts that are too high on his torso!

He's doing a great job!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

Such talent! I can't even draw/paint small pictures so I really admire these artists. Perhaps he'll earn enough one day to buy a belt;-)

This is great! I have never seen a graffiti artist at work in "real" life.

An interesting world! Graffiti is sometimes art to me.

Great shots. He's creating a very artistic work.

Love the outfit ;>). He really does look absorbed in his work. Is this a legal place for graffitti artists to work? If so I applaud that.

A great idea to have a particular place for this work! Keeps unwanted work away from other areas! Have you noticed that it always seems to be guys who do this!

I would love to see more of the graffiti in this alley :)

He definitely looks intense to me. I cannot imagine being able to do that...graffiti or not. It certainly is one colorful wall. Genie

I'm amazed that they can see the whole picture in their mind while working on a small area. Graffiti IS a form of art, at least when it's not gang symbols!

Nice captures... In perhaps only my mind, graffiti is defacing someone's property without invitation. Once it's "legal" it is wall art. Pettifoggery, perhaps.

That is so cool to actually see the artist at work. Is there any room left in the alley for new art? Surely it must be full by now.
